In 2006 we started a thing called Krosswerdz in Sydney. It’s like a get together of Hip-Hop heads who are into faith and want to use the culture for the power of good and not eevviiill. It appears that there are a few others that are on the same page, so the group has started now on the NSW Central Coast, in Perth and in Wagga Wagga. It also looks like groups will be springing up in Melbourne, Brizzy, and the nations capital Canberra may also represent.
If anyones interested in checkin’ it out, check out www.krosswerdz.com

Well ‘Way of the Warrior’ is gettin’ steadily movin’ along. Vocals are nearly done now, just the verses from the feature MCs are needed. It’s sound’n fresh, Wiz has really outdone himself with the beats. He’s also pretty much produced the entire next Brethren Album which should be dropping in 2009. That’ll be the 20th anniversary of us rhyming as Brethren, and I don’t wanna let out too many secrets but it’ll be called ‘Bastion’.

Well slowly but surely I’m progressing with the solo album. I’ve filmed one of the scenes for the title track ‘Way of the Warrior”, which is a martial arts fight scene with my good mate and TFC crew buddy Darco from gay Paree in France. Needless to say I kick his butt…hey my album, my rules. The rest of the album is midway so I’m hoping to have it done by hopefully by the end of this year or early the next. I’ll be putting a few bit’s and pieces on myspace very soon.

My Faith in G_d is very important, it directs everything I do and makes up an important part of who I am. Your belief system [or lack of it] shapes and moulds your character.
I chose to follow the teachings of Jesus [Y’shua] at the age of 18. I believe G_d had a plan for my future and I could see his fingerprints from looking at my past.
I’ve been blessed in my life and owe a lot to my family, who promoted diversity and individuality. My family background is a mix of German Jews, Irish Catholics, and Protestant Freemasons, all under the influence of the Aussie way of thinking. Growing up in the Western suburbs of Sydney with a cultural melting pot of friends I learnt about places like Cambodia, Lebanon, Vietnam, etc etc. At home words like ’shenanigans’ and ’shamozel’ were mixed in everyday conversation linking me with my respective Celtic and Semitic heritages. All these factors contributed to giving me a longing to learn and made me aware of how diverse the World really is.
I’ve endeavored to get an understanding of part of my ancestry by starting to learn Hebrew and Aramaic. Also as my fiancé is from Fiji, I’ve endeavored to get a grasp of the Fijian language, and so far have a basic knowledge. Both of us have dabbled in learning Spanish in an attempt to start from an even playing field. And also to make sure that my rhyming partner Wizdm [who’s Chilean], doesn’t say anything bad about us.
Now I can agree to disagree with people who don’t believe the same as me, and I try to read a lot of diverse books in an attempt to work out why people do what they do. For example you could follow Gandhi’s passive resistance philosophy without converting to Hinduism. Martin Luther King Junior who was a Baptist Minister adopted this theory in a major way to further the American Civil Rights movement.
I hope and pray that I can be a positive influence on this World for the short time I’ll be here. May I not hinder G_d in his desire to shine His light through this flawed life.

I really love my breaking, but although I’ve been throwing down for more than 20 years I still haven’t improved much. At present I’m like a has been sports person who’s been demoted to TV commentator or expert consultant. At present I run a few jam sessions, one at Marrickville Youth resource center in Sydney’s inner west with my boys Rangsta and Skotidoo. It’s a free group which has been running regularly for about 10 years now. I also put on a class at Frenchs Forest on the Northern Beaches every Thursday. I still bust my 3 signature moves in the circle when I get half a chance. Props to all the fresh bboys that humour me.

I’ve been MCing for a while now, first in the early 80s with my brother Evo [Werdup], then in the late 80s with my boys Teeedo [Katana] in Assassins and Killa Elite, and the Sereck [Unique] in Superstarz and Soul Brothers.
I started to take it a little more seriously when I met up with my partner in rhyme Wizdm, and we started rhyming under the crew name Brethren. Initially a crew of about a dozen, it later reduced to Wiz, myself and 3 mates form school, bboys Carlos [Legend], George [Spence] and Rio. It finally ended up being just music with myself and Wiz. Since then we’ve done hundreds of gigs, toured all over Oz and released numerous tracks on tape, CD and vinyl. Our most recent release was a concept album titled Beyond Underground, which was inspired by our love of Sci-Fi, and had an accompanying comic book. Part of the story draws from the Aussie cult classic film Mad Max, and our video for the track Intercepta reflects that, also featuring a cameo from our old buddy Emile Minty [The Feral Kid].
Wiz is about to drop his solo album called Unrelenting. It’s a must buy for anyone into slammin beats, dope rhymes and a positive party vibe. Don’t forget to check out his site through the link.
Also on a solo vibe I’m working on a project called way of the Warrior. The album has a basis in my longtime love of martial arts, and has some mean ass beats by Wiz, Sereck and Nebs. There will also be cameo verses by the likes of Solomon Klepto, Wizdm, Brass Knuckles, Reason, Elevate, Vice Versa, Darco, Playdough, and a few more to be confirmed as the project develops.
There are also some new Brethren tracks in the planning, so don’t think that that’s slipped by the wayside. I’ll keep you posted.
